Baseball Beats Bakersfield on Will White Hit

VALLEY GLEN, CA - The LAVC Baseball team won game one, of a three game series against Bakersfield, 7-5 on a Will White seventh inning base hit.

The entire game was a back and forth affair. The Monarchs started out with a 3-0 lead heading into the third inning. Bakersfield took a one run lead in that inning, going up 4-3.  Valley took back the lead in the sixth inning on an Alden Quintanilla home run and a Will White (pictured) left-center double.  At this point in the game it was 5-4 Monarchs.  In the top of the seventh, Bakersfield tied the game up 5-5, it looked like momentum was on the Renegades side.

The Monarchs took back that momentum by immediately loading the bases in the bottom of the seventh.  Will White walked up to the plate with an opportunity to put the Monarchs ahead and he took big advantage of that. White had an incredible at bat, taking it to a full count, when he hit a ground ball through the 5-6 hole scoring two - Vic Pico and Quintanilla.

White was 3-4 with his double and three RBIs, including the two runs batted in the won the game.  Quintanilla was 3-3 with his home run and three runs scored.  Pico was 2-3 with the one run scored to win the game.

The Monarchs travel to Bakersfield for game two of the series on Thursday, April 11 for a 2:30 p.m. game.
