Two legacy Kern County institutions have strengthened a partnership that will benefit the entire Golden Empire and raise the profile for one of the nation's most prolific community college athletic departments.
"Orange Belt Stages has really stepped up their level of service to us," Athletic Director Sandi Taylor said, "And this is the kind of excellence you expect from operations that have been in business for nearly 100 years, which both BC Athletics and Orange Belt Stages can claim."

Those optimistic words came upon the delivery of a bus that will convey BC Athletes to their competitions across California for at least the next three years.

The coach is emblazoned with the Bakersfield College livery and website address, making it one of THE most visible community college transportation methods in the United States.
Bakersfield College fields 20 intercollegiate athletic teams that travel the state representing the Golden Empire, and Marketing Director Roger Fessler says he can't think of a single department that compares to BC's when it comes to operations, prestige, and accomplishment.
"This kind of transportation is commonplace at the four-year Division 1 level, but at the community college level? Unheard of!" Fessler said.
