Reggie Bolton Named Interim Dean of Kinesiology/Athletics Director

Bakersfield, CA – Bakersfield College Vice President for Student Services Zav Dadabhoy announced today that Reggie Bolton has been named the Interim Dean of Kinesiology/Athletic Director. Bolton replaces the recently retired Sandi Taylor who held the position the last seven years.

"We are excited to welcome Reggie into this important leadership role on campus," Dadabhoy said. "The Bakersfield College athletics history and tradition are second to none and we are confident in Reggie's leadership abilities to take the department into the next great era of Renegade Athletics."

"To lead Renegade Athletics in this role is an opportunity of a lifetime," said Bolton. "Having been a football coach for 12 years and Kinesiology Department Chair for the last 7 years on this campus, I am very aware of the platform this position holds within our community and state. I am humbled by the opportunity and will work tirelessly to improve our department and the Renegade student athlete experience."

Bolton has served as the kinesiology department chair since 2014 and served as Associate Athletic Director during the 2013-14 school year. From 2007-2018 he also served as the defensive coordinator for the BC football program. In 2012 he helped lead the team to a CCCAA State Championship, beating San Francisco City College in the championship game 34-14.

From 2002-2003 he was the Associate Head Coach at Humboldt State University having served at the Defensive Coordinator there from 1998-2002.

Bolton's professional career started at Humboldt State where he was the NCAA Life Skills Coordinator and Assistant Football Coach from 1996-97. He then would move to become the Defensive Coordinator and a Physical Education Instructor at Sacramento City College from 1997-98.

Bolton has served on many BC campus committees including Academic Senate (2009-14), Campus Budget Committee (2014-2016) and the Advisory Board for the African American Mentoring Project (2012-14). He was a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) from 1997-2018 and most recently completed the Kern Community College District Leadership Academy during the 2019-20 school year.
