Rich Hughes

Rich Hughes coached the Renegade men’s basketball program from 2005-2020.

Before coming to BC, he was head coach (2004-05) and an assistant coach (1996-04) at Allan Hancock College. Prior to that he was the Assistant Varsity Coach at Templeton High School (1995-96).

As a student-athlete he played at both West High School and Huntington Beach High School before beginning his college career at Orange Coast College. He then transferred and finished out playing at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

He holds a B.A in Physical Education from California State University, Dominguez Hills and an M.S. in Physical Education, Health Education, and Recreation from Emporia State University.

As coach, he likes to see student athletes mature and find the secret of self-discipline, work ethic, and accountability in life.

Rich resides in Bakersfield with his wife of 15 years, Pilar and their son, Jackson.
