Oxnard Drops Opening DH to Bakersfield

The Condors were excited to start Spring II sports action, with the baseball team traveling to Bakersfield College to take on the Renegades.

Trevor Hammond Pitched a quality six innings, giving up four runs, on six hits with one strikeout. Gavin Conary got the start in game two, going five innings, giving up four hits and two runs, while fanning five Renegades.

Austin MacielDominic Herrera, and Erick Martinez all collected hits for the Condors, but timely hitting was not on OC's side.  

All game 1's of the year-long double-header format are scheduled for seven innings.

Game two saw the Renegades jump out to a 2-0 lead, in the first.  Oxnard battled back in the third inning on an RBI single by Jose Parga, driving in Isaiah Gonzalez, to make the score 2-1.

BC tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning to move the score to 4-1.  Oxnard's Taylor Tractenberg has a fine day at the plate going 3-4, with a double in the box score.

Oxnard got one more run in the seventh inning, but were unable to capitalize on their six hits.

The Condors will open at home on Saturday, April 17th with a DH against Cuesta College. The games will be streamed on Twitter: OC Athletics-@OCCondors.

The first pitch will be thrown out by Ventura County Community College Trustee, Josh Chancer.  The ceremonial first pitch will commemorate the first official sports action in the Condors Nest for over one year. Oxnard College is celebrating the return to normalcy and the appreciation for the comradery and unity of sport.
