The GCC Baseball team maintains is tied for the lead in the WSC South after beating Bakersfield College 8-0 March 23, 15-4 March 24, before falling to the visiting Renegades 3-2 March 25. They are 8-1 in the WSC South and 18-8 overall and are tied for first place with L.A. Valley College.

Boon Fay got the win last Thursday to improve to 5-0 and struck out six and allowed just one hit. Maximo Newhart pitched three innings in relief to preserve the win. Brandon Nguyen, Adrian Gonzalez, Nick Sutherlin, Tommy Italia and Ricky Perez all had two hits for the Vaqs. Joey Craig led the hit parade in Friday's win with three homers and five RBI as GCC hitters had 13 hits, eight of them extra base knocks. Sam Grunberg had a pair of doubles, Ricky Perez homered among his two hits and Alec Garcia also had two hits in support of winning pitcher Julian Jaramillo. David Vargara, Jameson Johnstone, Owen Wendell-Braly and Matthew Bender all pitched in relief for the Vaqs.

Glendale continues conference play this week at L.A. Mission Tuesday, March 28 at 2:30 p.m., at home Thursday, March 30 at 2:30 p.m. and at L.A. Mission Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m.
