Jones gets 100th win, No. 9 West LA cruises to 80-64 victory over Bakersfield

CULVER CITY --- No. 9 state-ranked West Los Angeles College continued its unbeaten start to open Western State Conference South Division play. On Wednesday, West LA improved to 4-0 in conference action with an 80-64 victory over visiting Bakersfield College.

The Wildcats won their fifth straight to move to 13-3 overall. For head coach Anthony Jones, it was his 100th career win at West LA.

West LA jumped out to a fast 9-0 lead and used a 12-0 run midway through the first half to take a 29-20 advantage with five minutes to play in the period. The Wildcats were up 38-29 at the break and were never challenged in the second.

Kalique Mitchell came off the bench to lead West LA with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Ethelbert Anum and Roy Clarke both had double-doubles with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Khalifah Muhammad contributed 14 points and 6 rebounds.

West LA is scheduled to return to action on Saturday (Jan. 22) when the Wildcats travel to College of the Canyons for a 3 p.m. Western State South game.
