Freshman third baseman Chelsea Ramos collected two of Porterville College's three hits in the Pirates' 5-0 loss to Bakersfield College on Friday. The non-conference defeat dropped PC to 14-14 overall.

Ramos went 2-for-3 to lead Porterville at the plate. She smacked a one-out double in the bottom of the fourth inning and added a single in the sixth to increase her batting average to .600 overall this season. That mark ranks second in the state while her 1.141 slugging percentage leads the CCCAA.

Angel Geston singled for the Pirates' other hit.

Bakersfield (28-6) scored a run in the third inning and put the game out of reach with a three-run, fifth-inning before closing out its win with a run in the seventh.

Alexis Rodriguez took the loss after allowing three earned runs and nine hits over 4 1/3 innings.

Porterville will look to get back on track on Tuesday (April 10) when it returns to Central Valley Conference play with a doubleheader at Fresno City College that starts at 1 p.m.
