On a day when the hit or runs did not come easily early in the WSC South game against host Glendale and visiting Bakersfield, the Vaqs rallied to come away with a 5-2 win Thursday March 17 to maintain it's conference lead at 5-0 and is 16-5 overall.

Now seeded No. 3 in the CCCBCA and winners of six straight, five in WSC play, GCC took a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning on a solo homer by Joey Craig, who had four hits on the day. Glendale rolled three runs in that inning to lead 3-0, more than enough support for starter Julian Jamarillo, who allowed just one hit in his five innings of work and struck out seven. Will Cheatham added three hits in the 14-hit GCC attack and Brandon Nguyen and Isaiah Velazco had two hits each and Nguyen added a run scoring double. Tobias Plotkin earned the win in relief of Jaramillo and is now 2-1 and Aedan Cunningham got his second save.

Glendale travels to face Bakersfield in the series finale Saturday.
