SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The No. 15-ranked Allan Hancock College football program closed out the home slate with a shut-out victory against No. 22-ranked Bakersfield College in a 13-0 decision on Saturday. | BOX SCORE
Teams battled through a scoreless opening half after scoring opportunities were missed by both sides. The Bulldogs got on the board in the third frame after a successful 40-yard field goal attempt from Colton Theaker capped off a nine-play drive that spanned 57 yards. Theaker completed another attempt from 33-yards out just five minutes later to give AHC a 6-0 lead after a six-play drive. K'Hari Upshaw recorded the lone touchdown of the night on the next drive with a 44-yard fumble recovery while 3:59 remained in the third quarter.
Offensively, Hancock posted 262 total offensive yards while boasting a 39 percent third-down efficiency (7-for-18) and was a perfect 3-for-3 on fourth-down conversion attempts. Mike McCoy quarterbacked the offense for the second time this season, finishing the night with 81 yards through the air after completing six of his 13 pass attempts and registered 22 rushing yards on three carries. Dior Kennedy led a slew of Bulldogs on the ground with 67 rushing yards on 16 carries. Maurice Smith (48 yards, 13 carries) and BJ Jordan (29 yards, 9 carries) also finished the contest with 20+ rushing yards. Jaleel Walker led the receiving crew with 66 yards on four catches, followed by 15 yards on two catches by Joey Garza.
Defensively, LJ Vongsy led the pack with six tackles while Ronald Fuselier and John Sniffen tallied five apiece. Fuselier, Jaquez McWilliams, and Avery Fondern each recorded an interception while Upshaw and Josiah Acosta both recovered fumbles. Sniffen and Acosta also were credited with one solo sack each while Vongsy and Justus Makaini combined for one sack.
Theaker finished the contest by making two of five field goal attempts and successfully converting one PAT. He also posted 260 yards off the tee, with three of his four kickoffs landing as touchbacks, and recorded 130 punting yards.
The win moves Hancock to 5-4 on the season and 2-2 in league play while Bakersfield falls to 2-8 overall (1-4 National North).
The Bulldogs will close out the regular season on Saturday, November 20th, with a trip to Long Beach City College.
