Despite a 2-0 lead, Citrus College couldn't hold off Bakersfield College and fell 3-2 Tuesday.

The Owls drop to 2-8-3 on the year and 0-3-0 in Western State Conference-South action. The Renegades improve to 5-6-3 overall, 2-0-0 in conference.

Javier Torres played a pivotal role for the Owls, scoring once and assisting on the other Owl goal.

In the 14th minute of the game, Matt Morales played a curving ball in behind the Bakersfield defense where Torres tapped it in from the far post.

Torres assisted the second goal in the 41st minute as Citrus went off on a counterattack. After beating a defender to make it two-on-one, Torres laid off a pass for Fernando Alfaro to one-touch it past the Renegade goalkeeper to put the Owls up 2-0.

The lead didn't last, however, as Bakersfield scored one goal a minute later and capitalized twice late in the second half to take the 3-2 victory.

Citrus remains at home, hosting Antelope Valley College on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
