VOLLEYBALL IS HEADED TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT

After a huge win Saturday, Nov. 30 over So. Cal #7 seed Bakersfield College, Grossmont women's volleyball has advanced to the state tournament.

Grossmont's own conference will host the state tournament at Southwestern College Friday-Sunday, Dec. 6-8, 2019 (Pacific Coast Athletic Conference). The Griffin women's first match-up is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 6 at 1:00 p.m.

The #2 South seed Grossmont will play the #3 North seed Cabrillo College. Grossmont is 26-3 while Cabrillo stands at 23-5. Grossmont will certainly lean on sophomore leaders Carly Gonzalez, Shaney Lipscomb, Haley Morton, Naomi Talisa Leilua and Amber Colton to qualify for the semi-final Saturday, Dec. 7.

Also qualifying for the state tournament from the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference is the #6 South seed MiraCosta College. The Spartans upset San Diego Mesa College (#3 South seed) in a five set nail biter. MiraCosta will play the #1 North seed Feather River College, currently at 31-2.

If both Grossmont and MiraCosta win their games Friday, the two will compete head to head for the third time this season!
