Baseball Rides Big 8th Inning to Victory over LA Mission

Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted LA Mission College at Gerry Collis field in a rescheduled game from the previous day and got the conference win, thanks to a big eighth inning, 6-3.

LA Mission scored the game's first run in the top of the second off a passed ball. They were able to put another run up in the top of the seventh after loading the bases and taking advantage of a throwing error by third baseman Hector Ruvalcaba. A third run was added by the Eagles in the top of the eighth to go up, 3-0.

The Renegades first run did not come until after loading the bases in the bottom of the eighth with LA Mission's pitcher being called for a balk, which advance the runners. Hunter Adams then had a two-RBI double to deep left field that brought across Zach Williams and Trey Harmon to tie the game at 3-3. Jacob Sanchez then hit an RBI double to the gap in right-centerfield that brought Adams home and take the lead. Another two runs were added off passed balls by the Eagles catcher. Five of the six runs scored in the inning for the Renegades came with two outs on the board.

Nathan Ortiz started the game on the mound for the Renegades and went seven innings collecting five strikeouts and allowing three hits. Chris Rodriguez came in to relieve in the eighth and Gabe Ulloa came in to close the game out in the ninth.
