Baseball Comes Out Short against El Camino

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted El Camino in the first game of a three game home series and fell, 1-2 (10 innings)

Bakersfield got their first run on the board in the bottom of the second. Outfielder Grant Holleman hit a double, got on third from a pass ball and scored from a single off freshman Joseph Alatorre. The Warriors tied it up at the top of the fourth from a wild pitch.

From there, the game was a defensive battle with strong pitching by both sides. The stalemate lasted until the 10th inning when El Camino scored on a sacrifice fly. The Renegades were unable to mount a comeback in the bottom of the inning and took the loss.

David Villegas got the start on the mound for Bakersfield and went eight innings with four strikeouts to grab a no decision while Casey Jasso pitched two and took the loss.

BC collected 10 hits on the day compared to seven for El Camino.

The Renegades drop to 2-1 at the start of the season. Tomorrow they host El Camino again at 6pm.
