Baseball Finishes their Final Home Game with a Win

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team tie up the series with College of the Canyons at home giving head coach Tim Painton a final home win, 4-3. 

A pitching duel to start the first four innings, bases were loaded but no runs were scored until shortstop Gillermo Monje flied out a scrafice hit to righfield to bring in Grant Holleman for the first run of the day in the bottom of four innings. The Cougars answered back with a run themselves in the top of the fifth to tie the game. 

Fortunately, the Renegades found themselves taking the lead back with a wild pitch for Alek Martinez to score (2-1). Shortly after, Luke Froehlich scored from a single to center field from sophomore Grant Holleman and gave BC a 3-1 lead after five innings. 

Into the seventh inning and Canyons score two runs just when Bakersfield was getting comfortable and tie up the ball game (3-3). 

Bakersfield gain their lead back with a single from Jose Ruiz to bring in Jodan Lopez home at the bottom of the eighth inning (4-3) and held the Cougars from scoring another.  

Brock Barron got the start on the mound for the Renegades and went six innings with six strikeouts while Daniel Felix pitched the final two innings collecting three strikeouts and gets the win.

With the win, this game concluded the Renegades final home game of the season. BC will play Canyons one more time tomorrow but will hang up their bats after Friday. Bakersfield finished the season 11-27.
