SAN BERNARDINO, CA - The Bakersfield College Renegades put an end to their three-game losing streak with an impressive 49-point road victory over the San Bernardino Valley College Wolverines Saturday night.
BC was clicking on all cylinders in the first half of the game scoring seven touchdowns, sacking SBVC's quarterback five times while forcing the Wolverines to punt on each possession.
Jordan Norwood scored the first of his two touchdown of the game with a 19-yard run at the 10:19 mark of the first quarter giving Bakersfield a 7-0 lead. After a San Bernardino's punt, quarterback Joseph Campbell's 1-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jayden Smith increased the lead to 14-0.
The Renegades exploded for five more touchdowns in the second quarter as sophomore Antonio Robinson rushed for a 16-yard touchdown, wide receiver Daylon Lynch caught a 9-yard from Campbell, sophomore Zachariah-Au Hawkins rushed for two touchdowns (10 and 3-yards), and Norwood was on the receiving end for Campbell's third touchdown pass all before first half ended.
The Wolverines were finally able to get on the board scoring twice before Griswold hooked up with freshman Kenny Powell on 38-yards touchdown completion. SBVC added a final touchdown late in the game making the final score 69-20.
With the win, the Gades are now 2-3 on the season and will go into their bye week before starting conference play. BC next game is on the road, Thursday, October 13 at College of the Canyons and can be live stream at gogades.com. Bakersfield will return to Memorial Stadium for Homecoming Night, Saturday October 22 versus Ventura.
