Men's Basketball Needs OT To Knock Off Cerro Coso

Bakersfield, CA – Renegade Men's Basketball hosted Cerro Coso at home in the Gil Bishop Sports Center on Friday evening and came away with their second overtime victory in as many days over the visiting Coyotes, 61-59.

The Renegades wasted no time in opening up a lead over the Coyotes to start the game, leading by as much as 11 at one point. Cerro Coso managed to chip away at the lead and by the break the BC lead was down to two points, 32-30.

The Coyotes would continue to work and mid-way through the second half they tied the game at 39-39. Both teams would take turns exchanging 1-point leads in what would turn into a low-scoring defensive affair. At the end of regulation the game was back in a tie at 54-54.

The overtime period proved to be much of the same with BC lucky to get a bucket and a foul with seconds to go to take the lead back. They would claim victory moments later as the OT horn sounded.

Leading the Renegades tonight was Rahmel Davis with 18 points and 1 rebound. Tyrell Coleman added another double-double this season after chipping in with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Next up, the Renegades will play at Antelope Valley on Friday (3/26) at 5pm. They will then turn around and host the Marauders on Saturday (3/27) at 5pm at the Gil Bishop Sports Center.
