Five Renegades Led Bakersfield to a Big Victory over AVC

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College men's basketball team hosted a reschedule match up against the Antelope Valley Marauders. The Renegades played their best game of the season with five BC players scoring in double digits to give Bakersfield a huge victory over AVC, 80-54. 

The Marauders started on the board first with Bakersfield not scoring a point until about two minutes in the game. AVC led three times but  started letting go on their defense while both teams tied the game five time before the Renegades started running with the advantage. BC ended the first half their largest lead by 13-points, 43-29.

Bakersfield's bench rallied for their teammates, as they score 18-6. The team shot 62% from the free throw line. Sean Fry led in the first half with 10 points while Eloy Medina had 9 points. Both Renegades went 50% behind the arc.

Into the second half BC started the scoring drive and continued to stretch out their lead. At one point in the second, the Renegades led by 25-points with about four minutes remaining in the contest. Bakersfield cleared the roster to run away with the ball game.

Sophomore Deandre Pemberton had a night leading the boys in red with a season high of 16 points and 9 rebounds. Teammates Medina (15), Tyrell Coleman (15), Fry (10) and Rahmel Davis (13) all scored in double digits. As a team Bakersfield shot over 50% on three pointers while the benched (33-10) continued to help the team to a large victory. 

With the win, the Renegades moved to 13-8 overall and 5-4 in conference play on the season. Bakersfield will see Antelope Valley one more time on the season on Wednesday (2/9) and return home for Sophomore Night on Saturday against West LA at 3PM.
