A Tale of Two Ends

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College men's basketball team hosted the West LA Wildcats in the second to last home game. The Renegades led in the first half but unfortunately couldn't hold on to their lead into the second and dopped another conference game in the season. 

The Renegades started the scoring drive with Rahmel Davis taking two at the line, West LA quickly answered back two points as well. The next two minutes both teams struggled to get the ball into the net but that ended with Bakersfield going up by seven points at the first timeout (26-19). With seven minutes left in the first half, the Wildcats found a way to close the gap. Each team going point for point and tying the game for a total of four times in the first half. BC went into the locker room with a five-point lead (40-35).

Bakersfield's bench rallied for their teammates, as they score 24-19. The team shot 52% field goals. Guard Eloy Medina had 18 points, scoring 4 out of 5 three-pointers.

BC went into the second half going on a 9-7 run after five minutes. West LA closed the gap once more and tied at 51 and then took the lead with a three-pointer. The Wildcats continued to take the advantage and grabbed their largest lead by 11 with about six minutes remaining. Unfortunately, Bakersfield was unable to touch their lead and West LA left home with the win, 85-76.

Sophomore Tyrell Coleman finished the game with 27 points while Medina ended with 20. 

With the loss, the Renegades drop to 13-10 overall and 5-6 in conference play on the season. Bakersfield will see LA Valley and Canyons before returning home for their final regular season game on February 23rd at 5pm.
