Bakersfield Defeats West Hills Coalinga

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Renegades defense held the visiting West Hills Coalinga to just 17 points in the first half as the Bakersfield College men's basketball team defeated the Falcons on Wednesday night. BC earned an 89-57 victory on the eve of Thanksgiving at the Gil Bishop Sports Center.

In the first half Bakersfield sprinted out the gate making a significant lead from the Falcons. From the arc, BC shot 11 baskets with six coming from sophomore Eloy Medina. The Gades went to the locker room with a 49-17 lead.

Bakersfield started the second half on the board first again but their offense struggled to be as explosive as the first and West Hills Coalinga took advantage. The Falcons went on a 15-2 run to get as close as 20 points with about 10 minutes left in the game. Bakersfield's defense let up a bit and ended with the same amount points scored in the second half at the Falcons. Fortunately, the Renegades had built a large enough lead to run away with the win.

Leading the team tonight was Medina with a total of 23 points and seven rebounds while teammate sophomore Rahmel Davis finished the night with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Bakersfield shot over 54% from behind the arc and had 16-8 second chance points.

With the win, the Renegades move to 2-3 on the season and will host on Monday night against University of Antelope Valley at 6:00pm.
