Men's Golf Takes Two to SoCal Championships
Solvang, CA - The Bakersfield College Men's Golf team entered the Western State Conference finals needing to pull off a small miracle to advance to postseason play. Even though the Renegades have been a top five finisher in all conference matches the playoff format dictated that the Gades needed to finish in a top three spot overall in the 36 hole event. The Renegades led by freshman co-captain Blayze Uchikura made a strong start in round one tied for fourth place with a ten-stroke deficit behind Citrus College. Head Coach Wes Coble stated, "I know our guys and I knew that they wouldn't falter and would rise to the occasion." As round two came to close the Renegades patiently awaited the scores to post and found themselves in a tie for third place but sadly this comeback story came to an end with a card-off between the Renegades and Citrus Owls. The Renegades missed a team qualifying spot by one stroke. Coach Coble went on to say " This team displayed a great deal of grit and Renegade pride as they fought their way into that third-place position. Sadly, we came up short due to an official ruling. I love these men and appreciate everything they put into the season and am excited to see six of them back next year."
The Renegades didn't come up completely shy of the post season; sophomore Blake Kessey and freshman Octavio Romero advanced to SoCal regionals as individuals. Keesey was also named first team all conference based on his season average of a 76.89.

Men's golf will start SoCal Championships on Monday May 9th at Ventura with a tee time of 7:00am.
