BC faced off against East LA College on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Bakersfield, CA - The Bakersfield College Men's Soccer team hosted the East LA College Huskies for a showdown at Memorial Stadium Tuesday afternoon. The match was originally slated to start at 3pm, but didn't get underway until 5pm as the East LA bus was unable to arrive in time due to an accident on freeway that backed up traffic en route to the game.

The game featured great defense on both sides of the ball. The Renegades were able to find the back of the net in the 15th minute on a goal by Edgar Gonzalez. The half ended with Bakersfield up 1-0.

In the 58th minute the Renegades netted the ball, but the goal was waived off due to an offside call. In the 61st minute East LA tied the game at 1-1 when they snuck a ball past the BC goalkeeper, but on their next offensive possession BC's Jose Lara scored to put the Renegades back on top, 2-1. They BC defense held to the final whistle and gave the Renegades their second victory of the season.

"We had to wait two hours from the original kickoff time", said Coach Vayron Martinez,  "but these boys stayed focused, they executed. Clear example on that second goal. We get scored on and we responded well like we should."

With the victory, the Renegades now move to 2-2 on the season. Up next they will travel to take on West Hills Lemore on Friday, Sept. 14th. The game is slated to begin at 4:00pm.
