Renegades Tie Visiting Norco

Renegades Tie Visiting Norco

Bakersfield, CA – Bakersfield College's men soccer team hosted the Norco Mustangs in a thrilling match at home to draw a tie into the Labor Day weekend.

The Gades pushed forward amongst a controversial first half. Both teams struggled offensively through the first 45 minutes of the game and remained scoreless but not actionless. A couple of fouls were given on both sides, with most in favor of the Mustangs as well as two yellow cards being granted to the Renegades. Each side aggressively played with more defense finishing the half with a total of two shots on goals which came solely from BC.

Going into the second half, the Mustangs started showing more pressure offensively and secured a goal at the 55th minute from the left side of their goal to give them the lead. With 35 minutes left the Renegades would try and get the equalizer with a pair of direct free kicks but unfortunately were not able to convert to a goal from them. Tension continued to rise as three more yellow cards were given in the final 18 minutes of the game.

Five minutes in extra time would be all BC needed to come back and they did exactly that. Defender Luis Valenzuela assisted a beautiful kick from the right to center midfielder Anthony Miron who would draw the tie. The Mustangs would try for a corner kick in the final minute but ultimately the game ended in a tie, 1-1.

With the tie, they move to 0-1-2 on the season. Up next, the Renegades will head out for the road and travel to Cerritos College on Septemeber 8th at 4:00pm.
