BC Wins First Home Match over ELAC, 3-1

Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade Men's Soccer team hosted East LA College at the BC Soccer Field on Tuesday afternoon and off three goals to come away with a first home 3-1 victory on the season.

An offside goal in the first 10 minutes would give Bakersfield the momentum they needed to know that shooting the ball passed the Huskies goalkeeper was possible. Although most of the first half was quiet, BC kept most of the possession. At the 39th minute midfielder Anthony Miron put his head in the game, literally, to give BC the lead for about three minutes. ELAC matched the goal going into the break tied, 1-1.

Into the second half at the 57th minute, the Gades took their lead back scoring a goal from teammate Jobanni Hernandez assisted by Angel Sandoval to bring the score to 2-1. Just two minutes after that goal, the Renegades gave themselves a cushion lead. Sandoval quickly shot in the right side that was deflected from the Huskies but the ball kept rotating inside the net to pass the goalie on his left side. BC held ELAC defensively with four saves from goalie Victor Melendez and take the victory.

With the win, the Renegades move to 2-2-1 on the season. Up next, they will host West Hills Lemoore on Friday, September 16th at 2pm.
