Bakersfield Falls to their Central Valley Rival

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College men's soccer team is no stranger to the Fresno City Rams nor are they exactly bestfriends. The rival is real against their central valley opponent and today was no exception, as this time around it would be the Renegades falling to the Rams, 1-0.

The first half ended scoreless but certainly not quiet. Fresno had more possession in the first 45 minutes forcing goalkeeper Victor Melendez to work harder and grabed four saves. The closet Bakersfield got was a shot from Miron that was kicked over the bar.

Into the second half and tension was high for both sides. With just a minute in, the Rams scored the first and only goal in the game. BC was desperate to a least get the equalizer and pushed forward as much as possible and sometimes to forceful. A red card was given on both sides in the 57th minute followed by a yellow card for FC. The Gades added another yellow card and Melendez had another great save in the final minutes.

Bakersfield ended the day with three shots on goal.

With the loss, the Renegades move to 3-3-3 on the season. Up next, they play another home game against El Camino on Tuesday, September 27th.
