RENEGADE MEN GIVE IT THEIR BEST SHOT AT BC RELAYS
The Bakersfield College Men's Track & Field Team took home several first place finishes at the BC Relays on Saturday, March 25th in Memorial Stadium.
Jacob Bookout placed first in the high jump, but he was nonplussed by the win.
"The competition he (Bookout) was expecting wasn't there, and he thrives off competition," Coach Pam Kelley said, "Ceasar Petino is another one who thrives off competition, and he won the 1500 and placed second in the 800. Cesar loves to win, and he had good competition with the Glendale runners, and he won it down the stretch, with about 50 meters to go."
David Garcia took the top spot in the 100 meters, which might have been the day's biggest surprise.
"That's the first time he's competed in the 100 this year, and he ended up turning in the fastest time of the meet," Kelley said.
Sophomore Mason Grantz took second in the discus but Coach Kelley was more pleased with his continuing development.
"That was great for Mason, he just needs to keep plugging away, and making those imporovements. I have to look at his rankings, but if he keeps this level of progress up, he has a good chance of making the post conference meet."
The Men's 4x100 team also placed second in the meet.
