Bakersfield College Softball (1-3) shook off the sting of an ugly loss to open play Saturday, and played like a new team against Antelope Valley College (3-2) but came up short in a 5-4 loss that came down to the wire.

Alyssa Gonzales was collected two hits and knocked in two RBI to keep BC in the game until the bottom of the seventh inning, when AV was able to hack into BC's 3-2 lead.

The Marauders took advantage of two walks to open the bottom of the seventh, and then used "small ball" tactics like smart baserunning and swinging for contact to plate three runners and nab the win from under BC.

The Renegades will host Taft College on Thursday, February 9th at 5pm in the Dean and Adah Gay Sports Complex for their 2017 Home Opener.
