Talia Nielson Secures her 200th Strikeout in a Victory over Oxnard

Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade softball team hosted the Oxnard College Condors and came away with a 10-1 win with freshman Talia Nielson securing her 200th career strikeout. 

Bakersfield did not waste any time scoring runs early. Rylee Price singled on a fly ball to right field to allow Shelbie Valencia and Marissa Campos to score. The Renegades added six more runs in the second before the Condors would grab their first run in the third with a lone homerun. Annika Romo, Valencia, and Campos and Shelby Buchanan all drove in runs in the second (8-1).

BC added two more runs before the game ended in the fifth and Oxnard was unable to add anymore runs on the night.  

Nielson was the winning pitcher, she went three innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out five and walking zero. Kady Smith ended the game throwing one and one-third innings. 

As a team, BC collected 12 hits giving a few bench players chances on the night.  

They now move to 23-6 on the season and will take a much need weekend off before the play at home against Folsom College at 2:30 and LA Mission at 6:00pm on Tuesday April 5th.
