Softball Collects Two Wins at Home

Bakersfield, CA – The Renegade softball team hosted the Folsom Lake College Falcons and came away with a 4-1 win. The game had been reschedule twice due to, no officials available and covid earlier in the season but the Renegades played tough against a top 10 team in the north.

All the runs in the game came from the fourth inning and only that inning. The first run in the game was from the Falcons scoring on bases loaded with a hard ground single on a throw to get an out. Fortunately, for BC that was the only run they scored but that would be the call to get the ball game rolling. Pitcher Kady Smith homered on a line drive to left field to tie the contest. The final three runs were shortly after with the bases loaded. Destiny Cuellar singled on a ground ball to center, Nivea Radar Shelby Buchanan, Annika Romo all scored.

BC was able to hold Folsom to no runs with Taila Nielson coming in the sixth and finishing the game with four strikeouts.

Smith was the winning pitcher allowing five hits and one run over five and a third innings, striking out one.

As a team, BC collected 8 hits in the first game.

In the second game, BC hosted the LA Mission Eagles and came out with another win on the season, 6-1. The team is currently undefeated in conference. Nielson got the win for Bakersfield with five hits, six runs over six innings and struck out nine and walking zero.

They now move to 27-6 on the season and will travel to Canyons on Thursday and return home to take on Glendale on Tuesday April 12th.
