Softball Splits Doubleheader over College of Sequoias

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College softball team hosted a doubleheader against the College of Sequoias Giants on Friday with a last-minute sophomore recognition at the end of both games. The Renegades dropped the first 7-8 and came back in the third inning to win 8-5.

COS led 6-0 after just two innings in the first game. Bakersfield answered back with five runs at the bottom of the second and then took a 7-6 lead in the 4th. Unfortunately, the Giants scored two runs at the top of the seventh to take back the game and keep BC from scoring another.

In the second game, Bakersfield got the offense started with three runs in the first inning. Anika Romo helped the Renegades take control of the ballgame with a two-run home run in the fourth. Pitcher Kadyn Smith earned the win with five runs on 13 hits.

With a win and a loss on the season, the team is now 24-13 overall and 13-3 in conference. The regular season wraps up next week with two more games against Glendale (Tuesday) and Canyons (Thursday). Softball will find out their playoff outcomes after a seeding meeting on Friday. More information to follow.
