BC WOMEN WATCH LEAD DISSOLVE AGAINST CANYONS

A second half explosion by COC kept another conference win out of reach for BC.
A second half explosion by COC kept another conference win out of reach for BC.

The Bakersfield College Women's Basketball Team (13-9, 2-2) held a 12 point lead at halftime against College of the Canyons, but Morgan Bizzell scored 22 points in the second half to propel COC to an 83-75 victory Saturday.

Bizzell was held scoreless in the first half, going 0-8 from the field while committing  four fouls. But in the second half she caught fire, making nine of her 12 field goal attempts and made both of her three-pointers to erase BC's first half lead completely.

Meanwhile, BC's shooting cooled significantly. The Renegades shot almost 42 percent in the first half and sank four of five three pointers, but slid to 33 percent in the second half and made only one of eight three pointers.

The loss puts BC in third place in the Western State Conference South, and means they need help from the rest of the conference and a .500 second half from Santa Monica to win their third conference title under Coach Paula Dahl.

BC's work ethic is never in doubt, however. And the women know anytihng is possible after overcoming an 0-5 start to the season.

They'll host LA Pierce College (2-15, 0-3) on Saturday, February 4th at 5pm.
