Bakersfield, CA – In their fourth game of the abbreviated CCCAA Spring I sports season, Renegade Women's Basketball hosted Allan Hancock at the Gil Bishop Sports Center on Friday night and came away with their first victory on the hardwood since the 2019-20 basketball season, 59-58.
After falling to the Bulldogs on the road the night before, the game started out as a back and forth battle with Hancock maintaining a slight lead throughout the first half. At halftime the Renegades found themselves down by three, 29-26.
BC finally took the lead in the third quarter, 38--36 after a pair of Elise Enriquez free throws. From that point BC kept the lead and held off the Bulldogs in dramatic fashion down the wire for their first win of the season.
Leading the Renegades was Julie Hernandez with 15 points and seven rebounds and Jenna Sampley adding 12 points and five boards.
Next up, the Renegades will travel to play at Taft College on Thursday (3/18) at 3pm and then return to the Gil Bishop Sports Center the following night to host the Cougars on Friday (3/19) at 7pm.
