Bakersfield Falls to Citrus at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College women's basketball team tipped off their second half of the Western State Conference action with a 60-57 loss over Citrus College Owl's on Saturday afternoon.

The Renegades struggled in the first half, only scoring four points in the first quarter and adding seven more in the second. It wasn't until the third quarter that BC started picking up the momentum and giving the Owls something to work with.

Bakersfield outscored Citrus 13-8 in the third quarter and got the game as close as six points right before the fourth quarter. At the start of the last quarter, it was a back-and-forth action for both teams. In the final 10 seconds of regulation the Renegades scored the same amount of points as the visiting Owls but a last second foul on BC would give Citrus two more points. Unfortunately for the Renegades the first half struggles hurt them in the end.

Leading the team was sophomore Laura Arciga with a season high of 15 points and four rebounds. Teammates Tori Robertson and Jenna Billington ended the night with 6-points.

BC drops to 8-16 on the season. The team will take on College of the Canyons on the road before returning for their final home game on the February 4th which will also be their sophomore day and Bakersfield College athletics departments 50th anniversary Title IX event. All the action starts at 2:45pm.
