BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College Women's Golf team has their clubs shined up as they tee up for their season opener on Sunday, August 25 under the direction of new head coach Wes Coble. Although coach Coble is new to the women's team, he's been a part of the Renegade family, heading the men's golf team for the last four years. This last season he led the men's program to their first post-season appearance in the CCCAA SoCal Regionals since the early 2000's.

"I am excited about the opportunity to lead a fresh group of Renegades into battle," said Wes Coble. "With every season, I get excited to see the mental & physical growth but more so the spiritual growth of each athlete. Every year brings new opportunities to build new relationships and build into the character of a new set of young athletes. I live for the opportunity to share my love for the game and my passion for people and just pray it resonates with the athletes."

For the 'Gades, the 2019-20 season will begin with a freshman-dominate team and zero returners. The program will take the course with four new athletes who are excited to make their mark in college athletics.

Young but determined, would describe this young team. Coach Coble explains, "We have four new girls representing the red and white. These ladies are working extremely hard to prepare for the season. They are on the course at 5:45am every morning and back on the range in the afternoon. These ladies are driven and want to live up to the Renegade tradition of excellence."

Coble adds the team will definitely be challenged this season but assures the community and fans that they will be successful. Both Coach Peterson at College of the Canyons and Coach Melendez at Santa Barbra will give the BC a run for their money, but with the character and growth mindset Coach Coble teaches to the athletes, they will be prepared to prevail.

Lastly, the women's golf program and coach want to inform their supporters and community the importance of being a Renegade. "We want to honor those before us and encourage those soon to be. We take every competition one stroke at a time and plan to build greatness. I have extremely high standards for the golf program and know that this is just the beginning of a very bright future for Renegade Golf. I hope teams doubt us; count us out please because in those moments of doubt we will claim our place on the leaderboard."

The 'Gades will begin the fall season with the first tournament at the South Coast Classic on August 25th and 26th. Sunday's tee time is schedule for 1 pm at Olivas Links while Monday will wrap up the tournament starting at 7 am at Buena Ventura. Keep up with the team through GoGades.com and on social media throughout the season.
