Wrestling Claims Third SCWA Conference Title in Last Four Years

Bakersfield, CA - The Renegade wrestling team claimed its third conference title in four years after taking first place at Saturday's SCWA conference tournament in the Gil Bishop Sports Center and completing a perfect 5-0 record in conference duals this season.

The team took first place with a total score of 176 points. Full team scores below:

Taking first in their individual weight classes for the Renegades was Alexis Becerra at 141 lb, Scott Hokit at 174 lb, Jordan Annis at 184 lb and Ricardo Gonzalez at 197 lb. 

Bakersfield College Coaches Brett Clark and Marcos Austin were named SCWA Coaches of the Year. Assistant coaches Joe Espejo, Ryan Meloche and Jessie Urbie were named SCWA Assistant Coaches of the year. Becerra was named the Outstanding Lower Weight Wrestler of the Tournament.

Up next, they host Fresno in a dual set to take place at 7pm this coming Thursday (11/14) in the Gil Bishop Sports Center and then head to the Brawl at East LA tournament on Saturday, Nov. 23.
