Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Home Match

Bakersfield, CA – Fighting with all their might, the Bakersfield College women's soccer team let a scoreless game at home slip in the final minutes to let the Santa Monica Corsair's pick up their 8th win on the season while the Renegades tallied their 8th loss.

In the first 15 minutes of the game, the ladies in red would grant Santa Monica a penalty kick.  Amazingly, Sophomore Auroara Fernandez recovered for the team and saved BC from falling behind early into the half. Bakersfield played with more aggression and urgency despite having less possession in the game. The Renegade's took advantage of that momentum and finished the first 45 minutes with five shots on goals while the Corsair's had two.

The second half would start off relatively quiet aside from the penalty kick that forward Aaliyah Cleveland took around the 75th minute from a foul that was called on midfielder Lissette Garcia. Unfortunately, Cleveland's kick was far too left and that would be the last time BC would find the net before SMC would take the lead. The Corsairs snuck away the ball into the back of the net in the final five minutes of the game to give them the win.

After the loss, Bakersfield now checks in at 1-8-2 on the season and will head back on the road to take on West LA on Monday (Oct. 21) at 2pm.
