Women's Soccer Ties Citrus at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA- Sophomore Halle Knox enjoyed a first career goal to give her team a 2-1 lead in the second half but the Bakersfield College women's soccer teams defense was unable to hold off long enough to assure a second half conference win. The Renegades took a 0-3 loss in the first half of conference play and tied the Citrus College Owls today at home, 2-2.

The first twenty minutes was anything but quiet as both teams combined had at least eight shots, two shots on goal each and a yellow card. Bakersfield would be the lucky ones to secure the first goal as freshman Crystal Ramos Rosales hustle to top to quickly pass to striker Karla Esqueda Cardona to take the lead. Unfortunately, the Owls scored on a set piece which BC was unable to cover in the 38th minute. Goalkeeper Katelyn Gonzalez ended the first half with three saves.

Six minutes into the second half, defender Knox changed up the game a bit and helped her teammates at the goal line and found the back of the net to give Bakersfield the lead once again. The Renegades managed to hold the Owls to one point until the 69th minute when Citrus kept pushing forward and put out all force at the box to grab the equalizer and the final goal of the game.

After the draw, Bakersfield now checks in at 9-4-3 on the season and 4-4-1 in conference. BC will head out for a road match to take on Santa Monica on Friday, October 28th.
