WOMEN'S TENNIS HITS BUST INSTEAD OF BLACKJACK ON FEB. 21st

Cloudy skies framed BC Women's Tennis's first loss of the season Tuesday.
Cloudy skies framed BC Women's Tennis's first loss of the season Tuesday.

The Bakersfield College Women's Tennis Team (9-1, 4-0) busted on the 21st of February, a number more commonly associated with "blackjack", a winning hand in the eponymous card game. The stakes? Their previously undefeated season.

Orange Coast College (6-0, 0-0) eeked out a thrilling 5-4 victory in non-conference action Tuesday, and now BC is tasked with keeping their conference record pristine.

"We were both undefeated, the stage was set. Somebody was going home with a loss, and unfortunately it was us," Coach Nick Laudermilk said, "But we did not go down without a fight. The lady gades took their first loss of the season but learned a lot about themselves in the process."

BC hosts Antelope Valley in conference play Thursday at 2pm.
