BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College volleyball team secured their 10th win in a row Wednesday evening as they took on a young, all freshman squad, the Santa Monica Corsairs (1-17) to take their 15th sweep of the season.

Outside hitter Lannie Camarillo led the way for the Renegades coming out of the gates with seven serves in a row to lead 7-0 in the opening set. The Corsairs got on the board with back to back points which was quickly ended by the ball crashing into the net. BC went on a 10-3 run before SMC would go on a short run themselves ahead of the second timeout. However, the `Gades had too large of a lead for Santa Monica to touch them, the ladies in red took the first set 25-7.

The second set started with a little more aggression from the Corsairs who tied the match for the first time of the night at 2-2 and 3-3, but BC ran away with the set from there with 9 straight. The Renegades sealed the second set with the same score, 25-7.

It would be Santa Monica to lead for the first time of the night, not once, not twice but three times early in the third set. Both teams went back and forth before the Corsairs took the lead at 5-4, 6-4 and again at 7-5. The Renegades did not let those leads or SMC's improved reaction time get to them as they went on a 14-1 run. Santa Monica got their groove back late in the final set to try and cut BC's lead with a 7-3 run but it would be as close as SMC would get as it ended, 25-15.

The Renegades have just two conference games left before entering post-season. Up first will be West LA on Wednesday, Nov. 6th at 6pm in the Gil Bishop Sports Center and then on Friday, Nov. 8th traveling to Antelope Valley.
