Volleyball Splits Season Home Opener

Bakersfield, CA- The Bakersfield College Volleyball team opened their 2022 season by hosting the Bakersfield College Quad Tournament on Saturday, August 27th playing against both Mt. SAC in game one and Long Beach in game two. In a competitive showdown against both opponents the Renegades split both matches in three sets (1-3,3-1) to move to 1-1 on the season.  

Game 1 vs. Mt. SAC

BC had their work cut out for them as Mt. SAC came to play. Right out the gate, the Mounties took the first set 25-17. The Gades were able to come back and take the second set 25-22 but Mt. SAC would end up taking the third set 25-20 and the fourth 25-18.

 

 

GAME 2 vs. Long Beach

The Bakersfield College women's volleyball team hosted Long Beach in the final match of the day and took a 3-1 set victory from the Vikings.

Renegades led the first set most of the game and took the set 25-17. In the second Long Beach managed to hike back into BC lead and ended up taking the set 25-20. 

 

Bakersfield did not want a repeat of the first game and got back on their feet taking the third set, 25-17 and the final set, 25-15. 

In the last match, freshman outside hitter, Alexandria Johnson had 17 kills and 19 digs while teammates and returns Tia Jules and Kami Marion ended with 9 kills each. 

The Renegades will head out for the road in their next set of matches playing in the Santa Barbara City College Quad tournament September 3rd in Santa Barbara.
