Bakersfield Grabs another Conference Victory at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College Volleyball team grabbed another conference win at home against the visiting West LA Wildcats (8-9) on Wednesday evening. Renegades started out a little shaky but managed to pull out the win in 4 sets total winning, 3-1.

BC got out to a rocky start with WLA taking the lead until they were able to tie the game at six points. From there, the Wildcats went on a 7-1 run before Bakersfield called their first timeout of the game. The timeout gave the Renegades the energy they were looking for because they managed to go on a 9-5 run to force West LA a timeout and then tie the game up at 19 points. The Gades took a short lead, but the Wildcats took the first set, 25-23.

Into the second set, West LA were on the board first once more, but BC captured a few points right after and tied the game at five points. Bakersfield went on a 7-2 run to force the Wildcats to call a timeout. The Renegades never let WLA to take their lead back and snatched the second set, 25-18.

For the final time in the game the Wildcats led again 11-6 until BC added five points and tied the game. Bakersfield went on an 8-1 run to pressure West LA to another timeout at 19-12. BC only allowed the visiting team to add three more points and ran away with the third set, 25-15.  

In the final set and the Renegades kept their energy and jumped on the board first, 5-0. The Wildcats try to scratch at Bakersfield's lead but BC finished the game, 25-18.

Leading the Renegades tonight were sophomore Tia Jules with 18 kills and Alexandria Johnson with 10 kills.

With the home win, the Renegades are now 8-7 overall and 4-2 in conference. BC will play at home again on Friday on October 21st against Santa Monica.
