SAN DIEGO, CA. - Bakersfield College beach volleyball delivered a perfect day on the sand, earning a pair of team victories over San Diego Miramar College (3-2) and San Diego City College (5-0).
In the opener against Miramar, the Renegades battled to a narrow 3-2 win. The No. 1 pair of Maya Barron and Chloe Lopez secured a hard-fought three-set victory (24-26, 21-19, 15-9), while the No. 3 duo of Amanda Zepeda and Keira Wolf earned a straight-set win (21-16, 21-14). The decisive point came from the No. 5 team of Mariah Sierra and Lainey Sterling, who closed out the match with a clutch 21-13, 21-19 victory to seal the team win.
Bakersfield carried that momentum into match two, dominating San Diego City College in a 5-0 sweep. The Renegades claimed all five courts in straight sets, highlighted by strong performances from Barron/Lopez (21-16, 21-10), Anahi King and Amber DelaCruz (21-13, 21-18), and Zepeda/Wolf (22-20, 21-13). Sierra/Sterling and Ruby Hawkins and Anabel Naranjo completed the sweep with decisive wins of their own.
With the two victories, the Renegades move to 6-4 on the season and will host its first ever matches on Friday, March 6th.
