The Bakersfield College. Baseball team fell out of a tie for first place in the Western State Conference-South with a 14-9 loss to Glendale College at Gerry Collis Field on Friday night.
The Renegades fell behind 7-3 after two innings and never fully recovered in losing the rubber-match of a three-game series.
The Renegade cut the Vaqueros early lead to 7-6 with a three-run rally in the third inning that was capped off by Brock Hallum's RBI single.
But Glendale for six runs in the fifth to put the game away..
"The key moments of the game; the second and fifth inning we walk a No. 9 hitter and get to the top of their lineup and the second inning resulted in a fourth-run inning and the fifth inning resulted in a six-run inning." BC coach Tim Painton said. "Once we walked the No. 9 guy, the No. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 guys had really good at bats. That's a 10 run swing right there, walking a No. 9 guy."
Glendale out-hit BC 14-11.
"We weren't very good on the mound but I didn't think they were either," Painton said. "They took advantage of our poor pitching and we didn't take advantage of their poor pitching."
