Renegades Roll Past Porterville, 13-1, at Gerry Collis Field

BAKERSFIELD, CA. — The Bakersfield College baseball team delivered a dominant all-around performance Tuesday afternoon, cruising to a 13-1 victory over Porterville College at Gerry Collis Field.

The Renegades broke the game open in the third inning with a four-run frame and never looked back, scoring in six of the eight innings played to improve their record to 6-3 on the season.

Bakersfield's offense was led by Jordan Brito, who went 2-for-5 with four RBIs and a double, igniting the middle of the lineup. Liam O'Reilly followed with a standout performance of his own, finishing 2-for-4 with five RBIs and a double. Luke Camps added power to the lineup with a two-run home run, while Landon McDonald went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Nick Martin was nearly perfect at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Tryce Spainhoward also made a major impact, reaching base four times with two hits and two walks while scoring four runs.

After a scoreless start, Bakersfield erupted in the third inning, using timely hitting and aggressive baserunning to take control. The Renegades added two more runs in the fourth, three in the fifth, and four in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

On the mound, Jacob Berumen was outstanding in his second win of the season. The right-hander tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out eight and walking three. Tony Fabian closed out the game with three solid innings of relief, allowing one run and earning his second save of the year.

Defensively, Bakersfield limited Porterville to seven hits and forced the Pirates into multiple strikeouts and stranded runners, keeping momentum firmly on the Renegades' side.

Porterville's lone run came in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Tyler Stansberry.

With the win, BC will move to 6-3 on the season. Up next, The Renegades will host Taft on Thursday night at 5:00 PM and Modesto on Friday night with first pitch set at 4:00PM.
