Renegades Battle Through Tight Series at Canyons

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College baseball team fought through a competitive three-game series against Canyons, coming away with one win in a set that featured two one-run contests and strong individual performances throughout.

In game one, the Renegades fell just short in a 6-5 decision despite outhitting Canyons 10-8. Power at the plate kept BC in the game, as Landon McDonald and Brady Baird each launched home runs, combining for three RBIs. Nick Martin added a multi-hit effort with two hits and an RBI, while Tryce Spainhoward chipped in a run-scoring hit. Bakersfield plated four runs in the sixth inning to take the lead, but a late push by Canyons in the seventh proved to be the difference.

Bakersfield bounced back in game two with a 5-4 victory at home. Jordan Brito set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Brady Baird stayed hot with two hits and an RBI. Luke Shaw delivered a key performance, going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Jason Smith added a triple and scored. On the mound, Brody Wedel was lights out in relief, tossing 3.2 scoreless innings to secure the win after taking over for starter Logan Judd.

The series finale saw another tightly contested battle, with Canyons edging Bakersfield 5-4. The Renegades tallied 10 hits, led by Landon McDonald and Brady Baird, who each recorded two hits. Jordan Mora provided a spark late with two RBIs, helping BC rally in the final innings, but the comeback fell just short.

Up next, BC will play a three-game series against conference opponents LA Mission. Bakersfield will start at home on Tuesday, April 7th, away on Thursday and back home on Saturday.
