BC Drops Series Against Glendale

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College baseball team battled hard but came up short in a three-game conference series against Glendale, falling in all three contests to one of the top teams in the conference.

Glendale opened the series with a 5-1 win at Gerry Collis Field on April 14. The Vaqueros jumped out early with a three-run second inning and never looked back. Sophomore pitcher Chance Gerecke kept BC within striking distance, tossing seven innings with seven strikeouts while allowing just three runs. Offensively, the Renegades scattered seven hits, including two from Jordan Mora, while Luke Camps drove in the team's lone run with a double in the ninth inning.

The series shifted to Glendale on April 16, where the Vaqueros used a six-run start over the first three innings to take control in a 9-3 victory. Landon McDonald provided the highlight for BC with a solo home run, while Jason Smith and Luke Camps each added RBI hits. Logan Judd settled things down out of the bullpen, throwing six innings and allowing just three runs.

Back at home for the finale on April 18, the Renegades nearly salvaged the series in a wild back-and-forth battle before falling 14-13. BC scored four runs in the first inning and built multiple leads throughout the afternoon, but Glendale answered late with a five-run eighth inning to complete the comeback.

The Renegades' offense was strong in the finale, finishing with 14 hits and 11 walks. Brady Baird had one of his best games of the season, going 4-for-6 with three RBI and three runs scored. Jordan Mora also delivered a huge performance, collecting three hits and four RBI, while Elijah Legan drove in two runs and Tryce Spainhoward added a pair of hits.

Over the three-game series, Baird was one of BC's top performers, hitting .400 with six hits, three RBI and three runs scored. Mora also had a strong week with six hits and five RBI across the series.

BC moves to 17-20 overall and 8-10 in conference. They will begin their final three-game series against LA Valley on the road starting Tuesday and will host Sophomore day on Thursday, April 23rd.
