BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College men's soccer team earned their first win of the season with a 2–0 shutout over Santa Barbara on Tuesday afternoon at the BC Soccer Field. With the victory, the Renegades move to 1-1-1 overall on the year.
After a scoreless first half, BC wasted no time after the break. In the 47th minute, freshman Alejandro Alvarez found the back of the net off, for his first collegiate goal, from midfielders Andrew Orozco and Luis Gil to put BC on top 1-0. Just seven minutes later, Orozco extended the lead with a goal of his own, once again assisted by Gil, who tallied two assists on the day.
Defensively, goalkeeper Aaden Zamora recorded two saves while Bakersfield controlled the pace throughout, outshooting Santa Barbara 7–2.
The Renegades return to action this week as they continue their non-conference schedule hosting High Desert on Friday, September 5th for a 4:00 PM kickoff.
