BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College men's soccer team picked up a gritty 3–2 victory over College of the Desert Friday at the BC Soccer Field, moving the Renegades to 2-1-1 on the season.
The Renegades struck first in the 11th minute when Cyril Langevine shot off a combination from Luis Gil and Javier Villatoro. Bakersfield doubled its advantage just four minutes into the second half as Dawson Willifordd capitalized on an assist from teammate Joshua Martinez to make it 2–0.
BC continued to press, and in the 70th minute, Isaiah Valadez extended the lead to 3–0, finishing a well-executed play assisted by Julian Bustos and Alejandro Alvarez.
Desert, however, refused to go quietly. The Roadrunners pulled one back in the 73rd minute, then cut the deficit to one just five minutes later.
With momentum shifting, BC goalkeeper Brian Ruvalcaba recorded seven saves on the night to preserve the one-goal advantage.
Bakersfield finished with eight shots on goal, while Desert was limited to just two shots.
The Renegades will look to carry their winning as they host East LA College for a 3:00 pm kickoff.
