BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College men's soccer team earned an impressive 3–1 victory over Citrus College on Friday afternoon, powered by a strong second-half performance to secure their first conference win at home.
After a back-and-forth opening half, freshman Sean Cline put the Renegades on the board in the 40th minute off an assist from freshman Alejandro Alvarez. Citrus quickly answered just a minute later with a goal to even out the the match 1–1 heading into halftime.
Bakersfield came out attacking in the second half, outshooting the Owls 12–2 overall. Forward Andrew Nava broke the tie in the 77th minute, finding the back of the net with help from midfielder Luis Gil to give BC a 2–1 advantage. Alvarez then sealed the win in stoppage time, scoring his third goal in two matches off a setup from midfielder Andrew Orozco.
Goalkeeper Aaden Zamora recorded one save in the win, while Citrus' keeper tallied nine stops against Bakersfield's relentless pressure.
With the win, Bakersfield moves to 7-3-3 on the season. BC gets right back to it on Tuesday, October 14th when they host Antelope Valley for a 4:00pm showdown.
