Renegades Power Past Canyons 3–1 at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College men's soccer team had a dominant 3–1 victory over College of the Canyons on Tuesday evening at the BC Soccer Field.

The Renegades struck first in the 35th minute when Andrew Orozco capitalized on a setup from Kaleb Carrasco to give BC the early lead. Just eight minutes later, Alejandro Alvarez doubled the advantage, finishing off a pass sequence from Isaiah Valadez and Billie Vanegas to send the Gades into halftime up 2–0.

In the second half, Alvarez stayed hot, netting his second goal of the match in the 52nd minute off an assist from Andrew Nava, extending Bakersfield's lead to 3–0. Canyons broke through in the 72nd minute with a goal, but the Renegades' defense held strong the rest of the way.

Goalkeeper Brian Ruvalcaba earned the win in goal, splitting time with Aaden Zamora, as the Renegades limited Canyons to just two shots on goal in the first half.

With the victory, Bakersfield improves its momentum heading into the final stretch of the season, improving its record to 11-4-4. BC will be back on their home pitch Friday for a 12:30 kickoff against Santa Monica.
